Additional Tips for Shows

If you like to wear a little makeup, keep it conservative aka no red lipstick. Hunter jumper judges favor a natural look.

The idea with rider apparel for hunter and equitation shows is to have a very neat, clean, tailored appearance for the rider. Loud colors are not appreciated and only make you stand out in a bad way. We want to allow the horse to shine!

If you are handling and caring for your own horse during the show as most of us do, you will get dirty. Bring warm up clothes like a jog suit to wear over your show clothes and keep them clean. Get a show towel. This is a clean towel that can be used to wipe down your boots and anything else that may need it prior to entering the ring. Lint rollers are also your friend. It is very important for both you and your horse to look clean when you enter the ring. You should even have a helper wipe the soles of your shoes!
