The Fidelity Classic Grand Prix

New England's Most Prestigious Grand Prix
Hampton Falls, N.H.--It was a beautiful New England summer day at the Fidelity Investments AGA Grand Prix, held at Silver Oak Equestrian Center on Sunday, September 6. The $75,000 Grand Prix class is the finale of the five day long Fidelity Jumper Classic. Horses and riders from all over the country came together to compete on a jump course designed by Linda Allen. The course was set on a grassy derby field surrounded by white fencing, beneath an American flag lofting in the wind. There were many strong rides at the Fidelity Grand Prix with more than twelve horse and rider combinations clearing the first round within the time allowed to make it to the jump off round. In the end, Kent Farrington won the class riding Up Chiqui. Other standout performances came from McClain Ward riding Goldika 559, Mario Deslauriers riding Vicomte D, Clementine Goutal, 19, riding Kelline Fonroy and Victoria Birdsall, 16, riding Hotwheels.

Ward was first to ride in the jump off, going clean with a strong ride. Clementine Goutal, the up and coming 19 year old rider, was determined to top Ward’s time with a daring gallop between obstacles. She went clean, but fell slightly short of the target time. Victoria Birdsall, a well known and very talented junior rider, was the home team, as her parents own the beautiful Silver Oak facility. She put in a great performance demonstrating skill beyond her years, but ended the jump off round with 4 faults. The performances of both Goutal and Birdsall show great promise for the future of American show jumping.

Deslauriers put in a crowd pleasing clean round with blazing gallops between fences that put him in second place behind Farrington. In addition to giving the hunter jumper community a great place to watch world class riding, the Fidelity Jumper Classic also presented spectators with opportunities for unique shopping, great food, special events and a family atmosphere, all in a picturesque setting.
